Object ID:
Dickinson Collection
View of the Mystic River West Bank, Mystic, CT, 1930. Up on the hill is the Mystic Academy, built around 1910, elementary and middle school until the 80s (?). In the center of the photo, behind the dock stand the John Fellows house, 13 Gravel Street, built ca. 1827, center right, and the Captain Avery Brown house, 11 Gravel Street, built ca 1812, center left. The John Fellows house was built in the Cape Cod style but had center chimneys and Greek Revival style pillars at the entrance. The Captain Avery Brown house is a pure representation of the Cape Cod style.
