Portersville Academy has served Mystic well for more than 164 years: as a school from 1839 through 1877, and subsequently as a courthouse, a district voting hall, and a meeting place for the community.

Today, the Mystic River Historical Society needs your help to preserve this treasured landmark.  Water has gotten in through gaps in the structure, creating rot and damaging plaster.  Work has begun, but we need your help to finish the job.

Please help us with your contribution to preserve an irreplaceable part of Mystic's heritage.  Anything you can give will help us reach our goal of preserving this part of our history.

All gifts made to the Campaign for Portersville Academy are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We're proud to announce that as of November 2005 we have raised more than $160,000 in donations and pledges toward our goal.  Our initial loan has been paid off and we have initiated a second phase of repairs.

Confidentiality Statement

- The Mystic River Historical Society will make all reasonable efforts to honor the wishes of those donors who ask to remain anonymous.  As much as possible, knowledge of anonymous gifts and givers shall be limited to the President and Treasurer of the Society's Board of Trustees and the Campaign Consultant.

- The Society will publish the names of donors who do not ask to remain anonymous and may publish donor names as part of a group, i.e., Donors ($1-99), Friends ($100-249), Benefactors ($250-499), Patrons ($500-999), Leadership Circle ($1000 and up).  The Society will not publish the exact amount of gifts from individuals unless given specific permission to do so.

- The exact amount of gifts will be treated as confidential information not to be shared beyond the Campaign Committee.

- The list of those who donate to the campaign will be the property of the Mystic River Historical Society and will not be shared with any other organization.
